My Students

Being from a Title I school, the students come from low-income and high need families. Often these students do not live under the best conditions or encounter the excellent opportunities others may encounter. Although these students may struggle in their personal lives, they still manage to take initiative and pride within their school by attending every day and participating in community service efforts.

Without these determined, loving and compassionate students, the Key Club would not have the success that it has today.

The aim for the club is to provide services and support to the outside community such as shelters, hospitals, parks, schools, and much more. Over forty students were ambitious and excited enough to join and give back to their school and community while bringing change to the lives of others who are struggling. It is honorable and humble of these students who fight every day to succeed and survive in their own lives to still want to serve their surrounding areas in need. These students are strong-willed and empathetic as they are selfless enough to provide people with the things that they could only wish to have for themselves and their own families.

My Project

My students will like to partake in donating gifts for the holidays to children. The students scheduled a number of visits to volunteer at the local homeless shelter and hospital by creating reading circles.

The students plan to attend the local homeless shelter and hospital to spend quality time with children who are less fortunate throughout the year and during the holidays.

One main objective during this project is to create ongoing reading circles for the children located at these sites. The students believe that when a person reads it allows them to escape from the reality of heartache, illness, trauma and devastation. The students decided that the best gifts they can give the children are books to improve their reading and give them hope for a better tomorrow. The students have raised money but it is not easy to fundraise. Whatever money the students can raise from now until the holidays will be used as a donation to the children through a Key Club organized holiday dinner and additional holiday gifts.
