Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Many of my little ones come from low socio-economic environments where their quality of resources is limited. Sadly, our NYC department of education also seems to have less yearly funding to help teachers sustain the needed supplies for higher education.

Even though my little ones come in four years old and have many limiting factors affecting their learning., by the middle of the school year, students are writing across pages and excited to share their stories.

My students are using their newly learned vocabulary words and oral skills to articulate and write their responses to reading, writing, math and other content areas.

My Project

Every child needs a fun reading space where their books can come alive!

A reading tepee will be the perfect get away spot to be in a structured classroom reading environment.

Their books will come alive as our kindergartners climb into our reading tepee.

This investment into our kindergarten classroom will only enhance the excitement and joy of reading time. The demands of reading levels in lower grades are increasing while our little ones in low socio-economical areas are lacking 40,000 vocabulary words by the time they enter their formal school years.

Along with our teepee writing tools, such as markers, pencils and crayons, will be utilized for reading responses to the books we read.
