This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever been given something really new & awesome but not given all the materials you needed to enjoy it? That's what has happened in my class. Our new Reading series has MANY on-line interactive stories/activities that we can't use because we don't have the equipment needed for this.

My school is a Title 1 school in a low-economic area in Fl.

Many of the students & their parents come from other countries to make a better life for themselves. These children come to this country & their 1st obstacle is having to acquire English as their second language. Given this disadvantage, they need lots of visual stimulation to learn. Not only do they have to acquire a new language, they also have to master the necessary skills they need in order to achieve successful scores on state-wide & district-wide assessments.

My Project

I have a total of 40 students in 2 classes that I teach Reading to. Our newly adopted Reading series has LOTS of on-line interactive stories, activities, & songs which we cannot use because we lack technology equipment & the budget does not allow for these large purchases. We have 3 projectors to share among an entire staff at my elementary school & I need this equipment to remain in my classroom for daily use. Students will learn more & test scores would be so much higher with all the on-line resources that are available to them. Also, this equipment would last a long time so all the students I will teach in the future would reap the benefits.

This donation isn't a one time experience for these students, it would be a DAILY gift that would be given to them & impacting their educational growth.

Not only would this donation be beneficial to the 40 students this school year, but many students for many years to come.
