My Students

My students enjoy coming to school each and every day. I want my students to be successful in their learning. I teach 20-second graders.

My students come from many different backgrounds.

However, when they come to school, all that doesn't matter anymore because our school is a safe learning environment.

We are a Title I school, and some students qualify to receive free or reduced-price lunch. We are constantly treating others with respect and kindness. My students try their best every day and continue to practice a ​growth mindset in the classroom daily.

My Project

My project will help my students learn essential phonics skills, ELA second grade reading foundational skills RL 2.4f and ELA second grade reading literature RL 2.1, 2.3, 2.5, 2.10. Due to COVID many of my students are missing essential phonic skills and are struggling to read. Therefore, these resources can help my students become more proficient readers. I will use the Tap and Write CVC words within my small group instruction to help students who can't read. The Sight Word Reader Parent Pack, I will use to provide to my parents to help their child practice sight words. Also, during COVID many students didn’t have an opportunity to read books like Elephant and Piggie Book Series at home through distance learning but with the books from this project student will have books to read in their hands. I will use the LEARNING ADVANTAGE 7149 Pattern Block Cards during math centers to practice geometry skills. I will also use Really Good Stuff Morning Meeting Chips for social and emotional learning to help build the support students need and discuss their emotions during this time.
