My Students

My students are really special to me for many reasons. I have a wonderful group of students who come from diverse backgrounds that make them unique. Being engaged in their own learning is crucial for ensuring their success. Many of my students are unable to bring in their own school supplies. I know that they learn best through active and meaningful experiences that they can connect across the content areas and to their own experiences.

I know my students' learning style and that learning by doing is essential for them because it is so highly motivating.

Unfortunately, most of the enriching experiences my students encounter are within the school walls because my students live in high poverty situations. An organized learning environment is essential in order for my students to be able to create freely! My students deserve to learn in the best way possible and that is providing the most welcoming atmosphere is extremely important. I believe that providing them with the materials they need aides in their success.

My Project

My students are constantly wanting to read new books. I have a classroom full of readers this year! I am a blessed teacher! Some of the books that I am asking for were requested verbally by students. There are multiple series sets in my project that my kids have requested to continue. I love introducing them to new books that they might have otherwise not chosen themselves.

I believe that readers are leaders.

I tell my students this. I hope my words are encouraging to them and that this will inspire them to continue to read further than this year. I specifically asked students what books they wanted in order to engage readers that aren't the first ones running to our classroom library. I want all students to enjoy reading.

We complete many STEM projects in our classroom in order to maximize learning experiences. Many of our projects require the use of specific materials, some of which are included in this project. We are in need of a new stapler, specific paper products, and vinyl in order to complete upcoming STEM projects.

In addition to needing more books and resources for our classroom, we need basic supplies in order to be successful. Expo markers, headphones, and stickers for our reward box are currently needs for our classroom. Our classroom has a Silhouette Cameo 4. The vinyl and accessories that are in this project will help students with their upcoming council elections in January. We will use this silhouette to make buttons and posters for our school building. My students are very special to me and all of these items will help them continue to have a successful fifth grade experience!
