My Students

This year, I will be teaching and providing literacy support as a reading interventionist. We are a small urban school that celebrates inclusion, diversity, and twenty-first century learning skills. Our school facilitates a wide range of students who predominantly come from low-income/high poverty households.

As their teacher, my goal is make our classroom a safe, comfortable, and engaging learning space.

I believe having an iPad to track student growth would allow me to facilitate and accommodate each of my students unique learning style. Using the iPad will help me work efficiently and effectively as I continuously provide support to students throughout the school building during my daily activities. This technology tool materials will help me send staff and parents quick updates on student progress. With the use of technology my goal is to spark a love of reading to students by keeping them engaged in their personal growth.

My Project

A tablet allows my students to take charge of their learning and see the growth that they are making in reading. During independent work times they choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Currently my students are choosing to work in small groups at a kidney table in my classroom. Viewing their progress will allow them to see their growth in real time. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I would like to see the amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in how they view their progress. They are easily motivated and engaged, and more time to review their progress would continue to give motivation.

The product that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional motivation about how to see their reading progress.

The tablet will teachers to have a chance to communicate with parents directly. The tablet can be used as a additional method of communication on a regular basis. I have seen how student voice choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more!
