My Students

Winter is over and my little kindergarten and first grade students are excited about spring. They are quite the little nature lovers! They have learned all about trees, record their observations in their ecology journals, and even adopted a tree outside our city school. This tree rug is perfect!

Our school is located in the busy Long Island City section of Queens.

We are surrounded by tall buildings with not much green space to enjoy. Throughout the year I have been making the effort to get them outdoors and into nature. Most children from the class live in the surrounding neighborhoods with little or no backyard space. Our classroom is sunny and bright and trees have become a focal point in our learning.

My Project

I can only imagine my little students' faces when we roll out a beautiful nature inspired reading rug. They love to lay on the floor to read and sometimes roll around to stretch after a long day! This rug is perfect because they have grown to love and appreciate trees.

This rug will make a huge difference in my little city dweller students' lives.

It's like bringing the outdoors in on those cold rainy NYC days. They love to read and have grown to love and respect trees!
