Every job requires special materials in order to be successful, including the job of being a reader inside the classroom. As a reader, this can include tools to improve fluency through the use of fluency phones that allow students to hear themselves read aloud without distracting others around them, as well as special highlighting bookmarks that allow them to keep track of the line they are on in a text. In addition, a new bookcase would provide a space for students to store all of their reading tools, and have easy access to them anytime they're ready to use them.
Providing my students with the tools they need to succeed as readers will result in them feeling more confident and willing to work hard towards their goals.
I hope that having tools available will help boost the confidence of my students and as a result foster a love of reading and motivate them to try their best to become stronger readers.
