COVID has had a huge impact on students in the classroom. Many students are below reading level and could use high interest text on their grade level to help the joy of reading continue. My students are hard workers and really are striving to do their best even though many of them face so many challenges. Reading is an essential skill for students to learn. The books will be purchased for both entire class instruction along with small group instruction to meet the individual needs.
My Project
Many students are below grade level in reading. Keeping students engaged and motivated is challenging. COVID has created a disconnect for some students in the learning and reading process.
Providing high interest text for students to interact with will help motivate them to engage in the reading process and learn how much fun reading can be.
These books will be used to engage students by working cooperatively in small groups to learn and present information to their peers. Also, whole class instruction will be enhanced as every student has the ability to hold the pages in their hands and experience the wonder of reading.
