My students walk in every morning full of life and love, eager to learn and succeed. I can say with an honest heart that these children are absolutely marvelous; each and every one of them. They work with dedication in anything that they do, even if the circumstances aren't always ideal.
Environment shapes experience, and that's no less true in the classroom.
While I do believe my students are marvelous and dedicated, it is also true that they often struggle to stay focused. When you walk into my room you may find them wiggling in their seats trying to get comfortable, or wandering around the room trying to find "their spot". On one of my rugs or in a quiet corner is where they seem to work and read best. Despite struggling to get comfortable and stay focused, my students are eager to learn and do their best.
My Project
My classroom is filled with hesitant readers who have yet to find the right book. They swear that books are "boring", but what they don't realize is they simply haven't jumped into the right one. I want to inspire them to read and find the magic behind a good book. I currently have a small classroom library, but I would like to fill it with more books that appeal to my students' interests. With your help, we can fill our classroom with books students enjoy. They say you learn to write better by reading; you learn to read better by writing.
Reading and writing work together to improve your ability to think.
I want to motivate my students to make a habit of reading, which will help them develop skills they will use for the rest of their lives.
