My Students

Have you ever been excited to learn something new. My students are new to the school system. They are beginning their journey to learning. They have to learn to read so they can read to learn. They need every opportunity to read. Getting computers will do this for them.

The majority of my students are from Haiti, low economic status.

Some were in the hurricane that devastated Haiti. They were relocated to our city. These students lack life skills, social skills. Opening up the imagination with stories is one way to fill the gap. Literature is the way to bring different worlds into their life without leaving the classroom. Exposure to different genres in reading will diminish the gap in their lives. Purchasing the computer will help them visit different sites that will scaffold their reading. The computers will help me lessen the gap in their lives that will make them productive citizens of the United States. Investing a computer in the classroom is essential to their learning.

My Project

I am requesting a computer for my students to learn to read so they can read to learn. Placing a computer in the classroom helps prepare my students to read. This technology is essential to their learning. The students will access to different website with phonics and stories for them to read.

This project is vital to their learning.

They have a large gap in their lives right now. Lessening the gap will increase their chance of becoming productive citizens. The computers will give them access to various websites that has phonics, and different stories for them to read. Exposure is the key to literacy.
