Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My class of primarily English language learners have been working hard. Very hard. In particular, they have been reading! After completing a book, they take a short quiz, and are rewarded with points.

While the reward's from reading are intrinsic, this highly motivating reward system will help my resistant readers persist and complete books.

In addition, the avid readers in my class will enjoy rewards as well.

They have brainstormed a list of items they would like to see in our “Reading Reward Store”, where they can use their reading points to purchase small items such as stuffies, squishies, books, goalie gloves, fidget spinners, capybara items and more!. Once a trimester the “store”will be open for them to choose their rewards.
