My Students

My students mean the world to me and right now our world looks very different with our students learning remotely. Our school is in the heart of Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, New York and all of my students are English Language Learners. The primary languages of my students are Russian and Uzbek in grades kindergarten though 5th grade. My ESL students are on different proficiency levels. For many of my students this is their first exposure to the English language, other students need help expanding their English vocabulary.

My students love listening to stories, reading books and engaging in conversations.

My Project

Reading books aloud provides opportunities for my students to expand their English vocabulary and increase their comprehension skills. These books will provide engagement and enjoyment for multilevel proficiency levels.

Reading to my students will provide language in context and language rich experiences.

Reading will help my students with integration of their language skills to include listening, speaking, reading, and writing. These books will increase their appreciation for literature. Choosing these books present opportunities to build important foundational skills. I will be able to provide a model of fluent and expressive reading.
