Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Our students are Kids at Hope. They are talented, smart, and capable of success. Our school is a Title I school, where many students go to a rough home. Music is a place for them to escape from the real world and just have fun with no worries.
This classroom is a place where they can walk in and know they are safe.
I have an environment where the students know they can succeed. We connect all of the core subjects to music and show how much fun learning can be.
My Project
With this project, I will incorporate more reading into our music class. I want students to see that reading and music work together in ways to make both of the fun. I also would love to have students bring in books of their choice to have rhythmic fun, after being inspired through what we read previously.
By bringing books into the music room, I also would like students to feel like they are stronger and more confident readers.
All of my students deserve to feel the accomplishment of reading a book they may have struggled with. It seems as though reading books is something students have less interest in and I want to find a way to make reading fun again.
