My Students
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” – Nelson Mandela
Educators are tasked with awakening the inner desires of students to learn and act as global citizens.
I teach in a low-income school. We have a high population of ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages), LD (Learning Disabled) self-contained, and resource students. Many of my students are working below grade-level, which requires differentiated instruction and individualized interventions. I have students who have the desire to read but not the materials. Many times my students come to me with very little reading experience, outside of school.
My Project
All of my students want to be successful. Books such as, Me on the Map and Mapping Penny's World, will aid my students in learning classroom content. My students will be able to use these books during shared reading, guided reading, and independent reading.
Having books written on their academic level will assist them with both comprehension and reading fluency.
Additionally, the use of grade appropriate materials will help instill my students with a love and joy for reading.
You could help make a difference in my students' lives. These books could be the catalyst that changes the literary life of one of my kids!
