My Students

I teach first grade an Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) classroom in Queens, New York. My classroom is special place with a rich composition of children from diverse backgrounds, particularly serving a large population of English Language Learners and students with disabilities. My classroom is a collaborative learning environment where special education and general education students work side by side and learn together. My co-teacher and I work hard to create a learning environment where every single learner, no matter their needs, has the tools to succeed.

My Project

My first grade classroom is very unique, readers of all ages, skill level and backgrounds are learning to code and are becoming expert computer scientists. We have many different tools that help us learn to code, but the one thing that is missing is computer science trade books.

I would love to give my students reading material that is age appropriate and helps teach them not only how to code, but also the history of computer science.

I want my students to have engaging stories such as Disney Coding Adventures and My First Coding Book that teach them about the important history makers that have helped pave the way and made computer science what it is today.
