This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kindergarteners are unique, fun-loving, and truly have a love for learning. My students constantly amaze me with their curiosity for the world around them. I teach in an Integrated Co-Taught class, which includes students with disabilities, English language learners, and students who come from various socio-economic backgrounds.

My students come to school every day eager to learn and grow.

I truly admire their excitement and passion. It is my responsibility as their teacher to provide them with meaningful experiences to learn and grow each and every day.

My Project

We teach our students to learn how to read using a balanced literacy approach. An important component of balanced literacy are read-alouds. Listening to books is a wonderful way for young learners to build a love for reading.

A center that I wish to incorporate into our classroom is a "Listening Center" where a small group of my students will listen to a book on tape, all while following along with their own copy of the book.

By donating to our project, you will help us purchase a portable listening center, CD player, headphones and a junction box with volume controls. The great thing about this portable listening center is that it can be placed anywhere in our classroom; helping us make the most of our space! That being said, your donations will also help purchase a set of comfortable rug spots to be used if students choose to listen to their books on the floor. Lastly, your donation will help purchase a set of books on tape for my students to use in this center.

My classroom is comprised of students with special needs, as well as English language learners. These materials will help my students with varying needs access this very important part of our literacy instruction.
