My Project

I am a Special Education Teacher working in a 12:1:1 classroom. My students this year are older and have behaviors that differ every day. I want to be able to provide my students with a space where they can read a book or in a stressful moment, sit and unwind. I want my students to dive into different literature. Improving the library space will allow the students to develop literacy skills and love for reading. Providing a space where my students can sit and read promotes positive learning habits and encourages a safe space for them to learn. Having a dedicated, organized, clean area for the library promotes independence for them to pick a book of their choosing as well as provides a comfortable sitting area where they unwind without being distracted. The book shelfs allow for proper storage and for the books to be organized and separated by theme. By doing so, we are allowing the students to build their independency and learn responsibility as well as caring for books.

The purpose of this area is to encourage and get students excited about reading, and an area rug will allow students to sit on the floor comfortably.

This area will also be handy for them to promote independence, learn to take care of books, and teach the responsibilities that come with keeping a neat and organized library. My goal is to promote my student’s success!
