My Students

Inner city charter schools, in fact all charter schools in general are in need of better public funding!

We are at a charter school that receives much less funding than our public school counterpart.

Although our school was the first charter school in the district, we are treated like the "red headed step children" in terms of financial support. Our families are from lower income areas, and often do not have the money to purchase the school uniforms and lunches. We are a charter school that welcomes all students grades K-8 within a challenging Core Knowledge curriculum.

My Project

These resources will greatly impact my students' learning in a huge way. Instead of sharing textbooks like we do in some instances, students will be able to interact with a text at once. We will be able to project any image from the document camera to share with the group at once.

We are trying to build up the technology within our building to get our students ready for the 21st century!

At this time, although the public schools in the area have use of laptops, smartboards, and other advanced technology, we are using outdated computers in a lab that students only have access to 6 weeks a year. I am looking for a document camera for my classroom so I can share materials with my class as a whole, and so we may interact together!
