My Students

My classes consist of a multitude of special needs, ESL, and "at-risk" students in the urban district of Jersey City, NJ. Whereby the existence and hardships of poverty, racial and ethnic diversity, immigration, and overpopulation strike through our classrooms. With in person learning, I would like to enhance my students reading superpowers. Being home, my students lost access to the countless books in our libraries, now that we are back I want to bring reading back to life for them.

Reading is our SUPERPOWER!

My job is to give these students a chance to shine. A chance to engage, create, interact with one another, and challenge themselves through their learning. Each time they enter our classroom, they are ready to explore and learn new things. As their teacher, I can do the same for them and present them with the tools we need to enhance our learning!

My Project

An updated classroom library will help keep us reading and engaged! It will provide my students the opportunity to explore various authors and books, while working to improve our independent reading goals. After virtual learning for two years, I want to reignite and strengthen their love for reading!

Through a variety of books, my students will be exposed to fantasy and science fiction, myths and legends, comic books and graphic novels, realistic fiction, and fiction books.

Most importantly, having an updated classroom library, will increase student motivation, engagement, and achievement.
