My Project

Students who struggle with reading comprehension struggle in all subject areas. This year my goal is for my students to improve their reading comprehension and therefore their performance in math class.

We will read Secrets, Lies and Algebra in class and apply the reading skills and mathematical information to improve students performance in math curriculum throughout the year.

This will help students improve their ability to be successful with word problems as they become more comfortable and confident in reading regarding math.

The storyline in this book follows the life of an eighth grade student as she navigates middle school friendships and math class. Students in my class will be studying the very things she discusses in the book, so this will relate directly to what they are learning in class.

My students are hard workers and are excited about this new method of improving their problem solving skills and overall success in math.
