Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I reside in Memphis, TN where politics, civics, and injustices has run ramped through out our city for many years. The books I am requesting will help in knowing about injustices the history and feel good stories of accomplishments. My objective is to introduce books that show the importance of social justice and how authors can articulate words and spread messages on their platform. The books I've chosen for my students highlight artists that they are familiar with and some not and that is a good thing to reinforce and expand their knowledge.

The books that I am seeking for donation has meaning, purpose, artistic views and excitement in them for the students to read from.

The kids will learn from the readings and know how influential and impactful the content in the books are. These books will allow my students to understand that they can grow up to be whatever they'd like to be and create change in the world through art and other mediums. Some of the books selected were for students who play sports and want to coach as well so I selected books that would in fostering their learning beyond playing the game.

I grew up reading a lot and I want my students to read as I do and much more. Reading is fundamental and always will be. In school literacy is a component of every subject matter.
