Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend a Title One School, more than 90% of the school population receive free breakfast and lunch. My classroom consists of multiethnic students who are intellectually disabled and/or on the Autism Spectrum. A few students are English Language Learners and several have special medical needs such as seizures, asthma, hearing loss, food and environmental allergies, and limited expressive language. Despite all of these challenges, my students are adorable, caring, happy, and fun to work with.

In order to enhance my students' individual learning styles, my class needs a DOCUMENT PROJECTOR to project quality literary books onto the large white board screen so that all students can enjoy and follow the written story and the creative illustrations.

I am also requesting Art Supplies, cardstock, a binding machine, and colored ink are also requested so my students can produce their own color creations. Providing these supplies will support my educational program and I know my students will enthusiastically participate in our Literature Adventures!

My Project

My Special Education students are multisensory learners. They need highly visible and motivating activities to capture their interest. The document camera will project beloved, children's stories on an electronic board. This will enhance their "follow along" reading skills and their understanding of story elements (character, setting, plot). ALL students will be able to enjoy the illustrations...not just the students in the front row!

The new Art supplies will enable my students to express themselves creatively as they write and illustrate their own versions of the literature we read together in Morning Circle.
