My Students

My students walk into government class every day with more questions than I could ever answer in forty-three minutes. Many of them have told me that they've never been exposed to any class or teacher as thought provoking and as engaging as mine.

As the government/economics teacher I make every lesson relevant and relatable to my students every day lives.

I am not just teaching students how government is suppose to work in theory but empowering them with the skills and abilities to be active participants within a democracy.

Because my school does not have a library I have created a classroom library with over 100 books from my personal collection. Students are able to check books out for as long as they desire. My school is located in Brooklyn the gentrification capital of the world. The majority of my students are experiencing this cultural shift first hand. The majority of my students are eligible for discounted and free lunch. The school itself is underfunded and lacks necessary resources that make day-to-day teaching much more difficult than it ought to be.

My Project

The paper I am requesting is essential to the day-to-day operation of my classroom. This paper is to print and make copies of necessary class materials specifically the readings I choose and provide to my students.

Without paper I am unable to provide my students with readings, handouts, activities, and tests.

My school is underfunded and is unable to provide students with their own textbooks so copy paper is a must and it is the responsibility of each teacher to purchase paper for their classes. As a first year teacher who is attending and paying for graduate school himself, this is next to impossible.
