Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The book series I’m requesting—including Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, Goosebumps, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Hush Hush, Geronimo Stilton, and Percy Jackson—will greatly impact my students' learning by providing a rich and diverse range of stories that cater to different interests and reading levels. Each series offers unique opportunities to engage students in ways that are both exciting and thought-provoking. For instance, Percy Jackson and Harry Potter offer magical worlds full of adventure and complex characters that allow students to explore themes of friendship, bravery, and self-discovery. Meanwhile, The Hunger Games tackles dystopian survival, justice, and societal issues, while Goosebumps and A Series of Unfortunate Events provide suspense, mystery, and dark humor that draw students in and keep them hooked. Hush Hush offers a supernatural element that will engage students interested in fantasy and romance, and Geronimo Stilton presents lighter, fun adventures for younger readers or those who are just beginning to explore chapter books.

This collection of books will not only excite my students about reading but also challenge them to think critically, analyze characters’ motivations, and discuss the complex themes presented in each story.

Many of my students come from diverse backgrounds and bring unique perspectives to the classroom, and these books will allow them to see themselves in the characters while broadening their understanding of the world around them. With access to this wide variety of genres and themes, students will have the opportunity to connect with the material on a personal level, fostering a love for reading that extends beyond the classroom. Ultimately, this project will help build their literacy skills, enhance comprehension, and cultivate lifelong readers who are confident and excited to explore new ideas and worlds.
