Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A day in my classroom is full of singing, reading and laughter. We take risks and know that a mistake is a learning opportunity. We love to celebrate our multicultural backgrounds and learn about the world through reading in English and Spanish.

We are a beautiful multicultural classroom.

Our first grade dual language classroom is full of children from different backgrounds. We have a rich environment in with learning about the world is a daily opportunity. My students are vivacious, curious, funny and sweet. They always work as a team and believe everyone is unique.

My Project

As a dual language classroom, I need to have a library in Spanish and well as a library in English. Unfortunately, due the lack of appropriate shelves, the Spanish library has been "neglected" and it is not equally accessible to the students as the English library is. My students need a bookshelf in which their Spanish books can be displayed and neatly organized so they can find their favorite books and enjoy their reading time. Having a new bookshelf for the Spanish library will allow students to have access to theSspanish books and will help them feel more encouraged to read and develop the language.

This bookshelf will give the students better access to Spanish reading resources allowing them to develop their language and feel more proud of their culture.

I want my classroom to be a true dual language classroom in which Spanish and English literature are encouraged equally.
