This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Reading, reading, reading! Where would we be in our lives without reading? Reading is such an important skill that children learn at very young ages. Sadly, in our economy today, many children do not have access to reading material to help them with this skill. Help save lives through reading!

My students are amazing!

I have 28 young students who love to read and love to learn new things! They are especially excited about science and social studies! They are very curious, ask me many questions throughout the day and they love to explore. They have learned manners and many important people skills that they need to succeed in our world today. They attend a public school in a very low income district, in a tough area of the town.

My Project

My class is requesting assistance attaining the Scholastic Reader, which is a weekly magazine filled with science and social studies topics. These magazines will bring so much joy to my students every week! Imagine their faces when they open the magazine about spiders, or apples, or the President! These magazines come out weekly and cover these topics, plus topics that pertain to weather, current events, animals, and much more! They also feature some questions and activities to help them with literacy skills. They will gain exposure to important topics that they normally wouldn't get to experience with these magazines! They will be able to read these, because they are at grade level, and they will learn many facts about topics that are interesting and relevant to their lives! I can already picture their faces when they get to see these magazines for the first time.

Imagine the impact these magazines will have on the lives on these first graders?

They will be so excited to share their new knowledge with their families and friends. Please help enrich these children's lives by donating to this wonderful cause and bringing some new reading materials to our classroom!
