Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is full of ambitious third graders that come from a wide variety of backgrounds and abilities. I teach reading and writing to a morning class and then an afternoon class with over 40 total students. They are eager to improve their reading and writing skills!

Striving readers are often asked to read texts that are too difficult, but not in our classroom!

Third grade is a critical year for reading success and also to get students in the habit of reading for pleasure. Our class has set reading goals and shared them with their friends and family.

My Project

My students come from all different backgrounds and I try to find books that they will relate to and want to read. We grow as readers and I looked for books at various reading levels that we can use both in the classroom for literature circles and to also take home and read. The stools would improve the movement in the room. If the children are working on a reading group or literature circle and want to move, they can easily pick up the stool and move next to another reader.

Flexibility in our classroom is the goal.

We want students to have books that meet their strengths and build from there while also having a fun way to sit and join a reading discussion.
