Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work as a resource teacher for students in Kindergarten to second grade. I get to work with amazing children who are culturally diverse and have specific learning disabilities.

Every day they come into the classroom and amaze me at what they can learn and achieve.

My Project

It is so important for classroom libraries to be full of diverse stories that reflect students’ backgrounds and cultures. Having a diverse classroom library will provide opportunities to have courageous conversations with my students. Reading is more engaging and fun when the characters in the story represent their culture.

Having a diverse classroom library gives my students a sense of belonging, recognition, and shows they matter!

Reading books that are diverse can help create an inclusive classroom and bring change in and out of my classroom. I want to empower my students!
