This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a first grade public school teacher in a low income/high need community, I try to expose my first grade students to all facets of learning in order to help them meet their potential and enjoy the learning experience.

I have a group of ambitious and eager public school students who love to read.

They are beginning to put together sounds, identify word families, distinguish between long and short vowel words, and identify various reading comprehension skills (main idea, sequencing, cause and effect) during word study, reading workshop, and guided reading.

My Project

I am requesting various word study, reading comprehension, and phonics games and puzzles that my students can use during guided reading center time, word study, and reading workshop. These games and puzzles can help reinforce the skills that my students are learning in class. They can also help my students who learn best through visual aids and hands-on manipulatives. By using these games and puzzles, my students will be able to improve their reading skills, word study skills, and even their writing skills and become better readers and writers.

With you help, you will make it possible for my students to improve their reading skills and word study skills by enabling them to reinforce lessons learned in class through various reading and word study games and puzzles.
