Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students of the high school where I teach come from a variety of different academic and cultural backgrounds. My classes consist of 9th and 10th graders who are disadvantaged, but have all the will in the world. Working with such students can be a challenge at times based on the need for certain equipment that will help my students reach their full potential.

Many of the students are English Language Learners and or struggle with learning disabilities.

Students do not have the means to purchase simple school supplies let alone the technology needed to keep up with the best reading programs. Our class consists of the lowest reading levels in the school, and it is my hope to allow students to reach their goals.

My Project

My reading classes are divided into 4 groups, each group has a different reading level. All groups have deficiencies in reading. However, the lowest group has the greatest difficulty in reading and struggle with decoding. Having headphones with micorphones will make it possible for the students to read into the computer, and replay their audio. Being able to do this will allow students to hear themselves and hear their own weaknesses.

My students need headphones with microphones to improve their reading skills.

We were given headphones last year, but the quality was not good enough to last through the school year. My students cannot afford to purchase their own. Please help my students improve their reading to be successful in life.
