My Students

Is there a job better than mine? If you asked me, the answer would be no – without any hesitation. I wholeheartedly believe I have the best job in the world. I set my alarm each night knowing that I get to wake up to go teach the best class in the world, at the best school in the world. I wake up each morning to teach a diverse group of students; students whose grandparents are born and bred "Livermorians," students whose parents moved here from India, Mexico, Egypt, Germany. I have students who live in million-dollar homes and students who live in low-income housing. Every day this diverse group of students, faculty, and hard-working parents make my job a pleasure because we all share one thing – we value the importance of education.

Third grade is a major developmental year in which students grow in many key areas.

Students become more self-aware as they begin to apply deeper problem-solving skills and analyze more complex pieces of literature. At this stage, children are able to take their writing deeper as they experiment with multiple paragraph papers in various genres. Because of my school community and my students, teaching is fulfilling.

My Project

With the task cards, I will be able to work with small groups on skills targeted to their individual needs. Because each passage is short with four questions, I will be able to meet with each group several times a week. Often passages or books for group work of a length that makes it difficult to finish in a week. This means kids don't get enough practice at the specific skill. This, also in order to finish a text groups run long, cascading into a time crunch for successive groups. Each card in the sets included in my project will be perfect for small group rotations.
