My Project

Over the past two years, I used most of the books I had to send home. The result is a badly disheveled classroom library. I now need to finish restocking my library.

I need more books for my small group bookclub reading circles.

My state provides a reading curriculum that is marginal at best. This also includes an antiquated social studies textbook. Although I try and make reading interesting, my fourth-grade students are beginning to realize the difference between real literature and instructional texts. How do I develop their natural interest in reading, and allow them to practice critical thinking skills without providing interesting stories for them to read and discuss? Sounds basic right? In addition to providing book sets for the bookclub reading, I need to get some civics titles so they can learn about their country.
