A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
The students in my special education classroom are first and second graders that greet me each morning with great big smiles on their faces. They walk into my classroom every day full of life and ready to learn. The typical student in my class reads at a Kindergarten level, has very little reading or listening comprehension skills and struggle with basic phonics, but are very enthusiastic and ready to learn. It is my hope that their love for learning will continue as they learn about the world around them.
My Project
The nonfiction books and reading phones will be used in by my students during reading centers. My students will use the nonfiction books and CD's in the listening center to help improve their reading comprehension and the reading phones to improve reading fluency. After listening to each of the nonfiction books, the students will complete a writing activity to identify the important facts and details and answer comprehension questions to show understanding. The students will use the reading phones to hear themselves read to improve reading fluency and to aid in hearing the letter sounds as they decode unknown words.
