Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you love to read? I want all of my students to love reading as much as I do. By the end of the year, I hope that all of my students are reading on a third grade level and enjoying it!

I teach third grade at a Title 1 school in South Carolina.

Many of my students come from low income households and more than fifty percent of them are Hispanic. Many of my third graders are struggling with learning how to read because they do not have the additional resources they could use to help them. My students want to be good readers. I can see it all over their faces, as they listen to me teach. However, I cannot supply them with all the necessary resources that will help them. I believe that having additional Reading Center Materials and literacy resources will enable my students to become successful readers. The Reading Centers and other items will be used daily by my students to help them gain the skills they need to become good readers and master the Common Core Reading Standards. By donating towards my project, you will be providing my students with the tools they need to be lifelong readers.

My Project

My students will use the comprehension journals and quickie cards daily to enhance their learning of the skills, they need to be great readers. In my classroom, I use reading groups for all of my instruction and these groups are differentiated based on THEIR reading levels. Reading and literacy common core learning centers will provide the students with additional resources to learn comprehension skills and deepen their understanding of what they read.

Donations to this project will enable my students to develop their reading comprehension skills.

By doing this, they will hopefully develop a love of reading that they carry throughout school and into their adulthood. Please consider donating to my project!
