My Students

My students are ready and eager to learn. We are a Title I school with 100% free and reduced-price lunch. Our students come from a rural community with parents who want them to succeed and the best for them in life. My students are in first grade.

We enjoy learning in a nontraditional environment and using technology to explore the world around us.

My students are excited and love the opportunity to explore the world around them. They have been learning to work collaboratively and how to find solutions to real-world problems.

My Project

The best way to become a better reader is to read more. My students work hard and read at school, but they need more practice. My students need to practice reading at home and I would love to make it more fun for them. Homework doesn't have to be boring.

Reading buddy adventures will be fun and interactive for my students.

The idea is simple. My students love our class mascot dinosaur (Denny) and they enjoy reading to him during the day. This project is to make that experience one they can take home. Each student will get to take home a plush dinosaur with instructions to read to him. They will write a sentence telling about the book they read and what they think the dino thought about it.

This project will help my students to get some new books that are on their reading level and supplies to create book buddy bags. Books they can read independently. Students will take a dino buddy home, read to him, write about it, and come back to school and tell their classmates about where their reading adventure took them.

Show students that they can read and it is fun. They will build their self confidence and increase their reading abilities even if they don't have anyone at home to practice reading with.

Anytime someone donates to our projects, my students are reminded that someone who doesn't even know them believes in them. Thank you for showing them that they are worth it.
