Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students from all reading levels want to have their own copy of a book while they're reading along and completing assignments. Many of our students are unable to purchase their own copy of the book and it impedes their understanding of the book and their ownership over their learning. The class set of the books will provide the opportunity for the students to reference the text while they are completing assignments and having class conversations over the text. As they read the book in class with their peers and on their own, they will be able to do partner and independent work to build their writing skills and cognitive skills. Two of the books in the class set are for 3rd -5th grade because some of the high school students are reading at a 3rd-5th grade level of reading. Students will be able to go to the page of the book that references a talking point, or some type of symbol or imagery discussed in the book for a greater understanding.
