My Students

Help make reading and writing come to life in my classroom.

My fourth grade class is made up of 31 mixed ability students.

Many of the students in my class are English as a second language learners. They are hardworking and eager to learn new things. My school is a title one school and all of our students get free breakfast and lunch. We have over 40 languages spoken in our school.

My Project

My class loves reading and sharing their ideas about what they have read after they are done reading. We have been reading the book Lunch Money by Andrew Clements and would love to add to our collection of books written by him. We also read the Birchbark House and would love to have the other books in the series. As part of our study of how authors write we have been learning about figurative language. It would be great to have some books to help us practice and learn about similes, metaphors, and idioms. My class loves to share their ideas about what they have read after and will make great use of the post-its, pencils, sharpeners and paper. As an incentive for reading the stamps will be great addition to our prize box.
