Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Learning from home last year was tough for most of my students and this year, they've worked hard to readjust and get back on track. To ease some of the stress and tension that many students are feeling, I've created a "Starbucks" atmosphere, where students can pursue their educational tasks in a safe and inviting environment. Students have the freedom to work independently or in small groups, moving around the classroom to find the perfect place to read and write.

It's important to create a place where students feel both mentally and physically comfortable while they work towards their goals.

The unique seating arrangement allows students to choose a place to work where they can be successful. They can get away from the desks they've been sitting in for most of the day and choose an area of the classroom where they can focus.

The seating choices I've made make it possible for students to sit anywhere in the classroom alone or bring two of the seats together to work with a partner or in small groups. Ideally, these new seating options would help me create even more opportunities for students to interact with one another and continue to build on their connections with others that they have missed out on for the past two years.
