My Students

My students are curious about the world that is ahead of them. They are constantly asking questions and often finding their own answers. For most of my students, it is their first time in middle school. In this new school, they are navigating their way through the halls and through the characteristics of the people they want to be. This is a time in their lives where their responsibilities, expectations, and goals are changing along with them. I would like to supply my classroom with books that are age-appropriate and with main characters that are going through some of the same challenges and choices my students are.

My Project

The material that I have asked for, books, will allow students to discover new ideas about themselves, each other, and the world. This year I would like to expand my classroom library by including more books in stem and more graphic novels.

The future is stem.

Exposing students to cross curriculum by showing them that they can talk about Science in an English will show students that many subjects intersect with one another.

Also, graphic novels are hugely useful in my classroom because of the language diversity within the student population. Graphic novels allow non-native speakers to follow a story line without needing to be proficient in the English language.
