Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My scholars are special because they are all ENL students who are learning both language and academic content at the same time. Each child is commanding their second language (English) at a different proficiency level.

Being a teacher encompasses being a provider, motivator, facilitator, counselor, and cheerleader, among many other titles.

Even though this is a challenging task, all scholars enter the classroom each day with smiles and an eagerness to learn. Each day I wake up ready to share my knowledge to help them get closer to reaching their academic success and challenging them to do just a little better than the day before. One day at a time, together we can succeed.

My Project

These materials would make a difference in my students' learning because they will make reading and math more engaging. There are sentence puzzles and picture cards to aid in reading and building writing skills. The students love puzzles and if I can incorporate reading and writing, subconsciously they are building their schema.

My students need math manipulatives to keep them engaged.

All scholars that I serve are working below grade level, so I am looking for ways to keep them learning, engaged, motivated and excited in a fun way! All students love working with their hands to create or build things. All of these items will help them do that and can be stored and transported on the rolling cart.
