My Project

The time has come to step away from digital devices and do the hard work of understanding each other. I think my students can do this by engaging with a diversity of American perspectives on our current political moment. With copies of these two books in hand, books that they can keep for themselves, write in and connect with,I know they can enter into a more sophisticated and carefully considered discourse about where we are as a nation and how we got there. After establishing an understanding of the rhetorical situation and compositional technique in the first semester, my students will be perfectly positioned to engage with contemporary voices from across the country. These voices will enable them to both understand the political tensions that divide American citizens and the ways in which language moves us toward a more peaceable exchange of ideas.
