My Students

My students need a new SPARK! I teach the Academically and Intellectually Gifted students in my school. Many have lost their love of reading and need their sense of adventure and imagination to be restored with great books to read.

My students attend a small school in a very rural area of North Carolina.

I serve qualified AIG students in reading and math in grades K-8. We have very few resources at our disposal. The last book we finished reading together, I read aloud to the students because we only have one copy. I would love to put a book in every students' hand so they can read and explore the vocabulary, symbolism, and language structure firsthand. These students are exceptionally bright, but seem to have lost the drive to learn and explore. I truly want to help students rediscover the joy of learning through great books.

My Project

You can provide my students with adventure and intrigue as they dive into the world of a young boy on a mission to save the earth from an enemy invasion. I have asked for a copy of the next books in the series as well so students who have a desire to continue on with Ender in his adventures when we finish the first book can check those out to keep reading on their own. Give my students the opportunity to read for enjoyment rather than a test to be graded. Students will improve their vocabulary and writing skills by reading the vivid and powerful language used in this children's novel. My father introduced me to this series as a teenager, and I have never forgotten the adventures!
