My Students

Can you imagine going to school and having no library? Now, imagine that in spite of not having a library, you go into your classroom, and find that there are new magazines to read! I want my students to have a continuous influx of reading materials, that can be used in all subjects!

My students have a multitude of challenges.

Most of them are low-income, and struggling with basic reading and writing. Parents are not able to provide resources, so the teacher becomes a primary provider to them. It is an alternative school, which they learn to love and many times prefer to attend. They receive small group instruction and develop positive experiences with learning.

My Project

Typically, the resources I request are designed for reading and writing, within my content area. I am a firm believer that all teachers are responsible for teaching reading and writing. In order to foster this philosophy, I must be a leader and facilitator to the students and fellow teachers. My students need a variety of reading such as scholastic MATH, Choices, and Science World Magazine because at our campus, there is no library! By requesting materials that will support students in all subjects, and help provide those resources to the other content teachers, we will be a more cohesive and effective team. As a result, the students will have the greatest benefit.

This project is vital to our students, as it provides reading resources.

It enables me to be more effective by supporting all students in multiple subjects. Sharing these materials with my team teachers will bring our students together and connect learning.
