My Students

My students are a diverse group of at-home, first grade, learners from military families. They love fun and engaging books that represent them and their interests and hands on math activities. They are excited by learning about science and math, love reading about their favorite characters, and can't wait to visit with one another on Google Meets!

My Project

These read alouds will be used to supplement an already beautifully diverse collection of books that will be read aloud each day. Our curriculum already teaches about animals, families, plants, and more, but these books attend to many standards that can be difficult to plan for.

These texts will drive research as students create primary sources, conduct explorations about light and sound, and learn about the local and national cultures.

Read alouds from high-quality texts like these also serve as models for excellent writing for the students. Thank you for your consideration in supporting our class!
