“Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers." by Charles William Eliot.
My classroom consists of a diverse group of middle school students with many different needs.
I am moving to a new school and teaching at new grade levels. As a special education teacher, it is my job to provide opportunities for all students to learn in different ways to meet their diverse learning needs. It is important that my instruction includes audio, visual, and kinesthetic aspects enabling all students to access information. And although my students have many learning challenges, they are eager to learn and become better students at math, science, social studies, and English language arts.
My Project
My students will be excited to read I AM MALALA. Malala's ability to overcome adversity and to make a name for the numerous women in Pakistan who cannot obtain an education, is motivating, powerful, and should be celebrated in classrooms around the world.
My students will gain a new appreciation for school and success after we complete our study unit on this novel.
On top of that, students will have access to new graphic novels and high interest reading of ancient civilizations as we take a journey through world history. History is a rollercoaster ride of thrills when looking at the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, and other ancient peoples.
My students have an opportunity to be change agents in the world by studying Malala and world history.
