My Students

Middle school years are a time of discovery.

Many of my students come from different experiences and from different backgrounds, yet understanding these differences about each other can be difficult.

Books create pathways to discovery. They give students opportunities to experience the hardships of others and have empathy toward them. Books open students' eyes to see something in themselves that they may never have noticed, and they give them a view of a world that they can dream of having.

My Project

Reading can have a lifelong impact on readers. Books let kids vicariously live the lives of others, to step into their shoes, and to see beyond themselves. Having these books in my classroom library will help my students to learn about the lives of others.

When students read, they better understand the struggles that many of their peers are going through and the world in which they live.

These books will become part of our book club selection, where students can read, discuss, and discover the world with each other, and more importantly, to become a better human.
