Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students love to read and it's been a rough couple of years for most of them as the majority of them worked remotely from home because of COVID-19.

This year, we are tackling learning loss and we want to make sure we continue starting the yearning to read books they would love to read.

Every day they are faced with different obstacles within their communities; yet, they strive to overcome adversaries and work hard to one day achieve.

A staggering 78% of our students are economically disadvantaged, face homelessness, and are exposed to violence and crime within their communities.

Though their environments are not ideal and the resources within our school are limited, our students work hard to ensure that they achieve continual success.

Their resilience and dedication are outstanding! They show up every day excited, eager, and ready to learn.

My students are 6th graders who are adapting back into a school schedule and environment. Please help me build a library to create lifelong readers and learners.

My Project

These materials will be used in the classroom for our independent reading time and for our classroom book clubs.

With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level.

It will be essential to help reignite the love of reading for the current students I teach and for many more in the years to come. This project will help the creation of our classroom book club and help students find a voice through their readings.

Reading is all about understanding text, having the stamina to finish literature, and enjoying the process. This project also has binders to help keep our reading journals in place. Thank you so much for your donations!
