Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at my school love coming to school and they are super excited to be back in the building after two years of remote and hybrid learning

This year, the goal was to create a community of life long readers.

Thankfully, our school community has stepped up to to the task, but we need your help to continue to provide amazing books to the students!

A staggering 78% of our students are economically disadvantaged, face homelessness, and are exposed to violence and crime within their communities.

Though their environments are not ideal and the resources within our school are limited, our students work hard to ensure that they achieve continual success.

My Project

Earlier this school year I created a Donors Choose to help add new books to my classroom library.

The overall hope was that with new engaging books, the students of the class would begin to create a new fondness for reading and they exceeded those expectations.

My initial goal was met. Now, with so many engaged readers, they are asking for more books. They want to read more, they want to spend their free time reading, they want to read books that push their imaginations.

My classroom library has only so many books and with every contribution we will help build a library they can enjoy!
