Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Inspiring students to tell their own stories by authoring and illustrating their own books is my passion. I want to teach students that what they have to say matters and they can share what they write about with their families and friends.
Our school is one of the largest elementary schools in the city of Chicago.
With a population of over 1800 students in grades k-8, we are happy to boast about the fact the we have an attendance rate of over 95%. Yes, our students enjoy coming to school. Our school is designated as a Fine Arts neighborhood school with an open enrollment.
My Project
Each and every child has some artistic abilities. In some these grow extensively and in others it needs to be continuous nourished. The primary use for the resources I requested will be to inspire kids to write by employing the use of a binding machine. My goal is to make writing a fun and effortless process for my students. The resources provided to my classroom will allow me to give my students exposure to fun and exciting activities related to creative writing. Here is a sampling of some of the activities my students will create and write about: historical events; biographies and science related topics. Finally, we will create whole group books that will become a permanent part of our classroom library.
The broad impact of this project is to have my students leave my classroom with a general understanding of what it takes to generate ideas, get them down on paper, and to illustrate and have a book published.
